Audition for dancers to join Dansk Danseteater
Danish Dance Theatre (Dansk Danseteater), under the artistic direction of Marina Mascarell and based at the Opera House in Copenhagen, is seeking dancers to join our ensemble. We are a company of 12 dancers of various ages and backgrounds, each playing an intrinsic role in our creative processes. Dance makers and other creatives collaborate with our ensemble over extended periods, fostering a deeply collaborative and innovative environment with the entire team of DDT. We typically have around two full-evening creations per season, with variations depending on collaborations with other institutions. Every creative process lasts between 3 to 4 months.
What are we looking for:
We are seeking dancers who thrive under the direction of different choreographers and enjoy engaging deeply in diverse practices without preconceived expectations.
The ideal candidates will:
Embrace a sense of belonging within a group and demonstrate full respect for all colleagues.
Showcase strong improvisation skills and be capable of exploring the full range of the body’s capabilities.
Be team players who are patient, supportive, and bring positive energy to the studio.
Possess a solid technical foundation (all techniques are welcome) and confidently express their unique qualities and singularities.
Value collaboration and creativity, adding positively to the ensemble’s dynamic.
Important Information
We train every morning in different techniques or practices, including ballet, contemporary, floor work, yoga, martial arts, urban styles, improvisation techniques, and more. If you are only interested in a single technique, see yourself solely as a soloist, or lack curiosity in exploring new forms, this may not be the right opportunity for you.
At Danish Dance Theatre, no choreographer works alone; dancers are an integral part of the creative team. We value a positive work environment and are looking for dancers who share this ethos. Dancers at DDT are not just performers but also teachers and creators.
If this sounds like a place where you can thrive and contribute, we encourage you to apply.
Practical information
This season we are holding two different auditions, one national and one international.
The national audition is open for all dancers of either Danish nationality or dancers who have proof of address in Denmark.
